These eight statements required a lot of thought to decide if I agree strongly, agree, neither agree or disagree, disagree, or disagree strongly:
1. Ambition is a positive, desirable trait in a person- Agree
2. If you are in a position of power, you are happy- Neither agree or disagree3. Everyone is capable of lying, betrayal, and violence, which are basic parts of human nature- Strongly agree4. Who we are--our essential character and temperament--is fixed and unchangeable- Strongly disagree5. Women are more compassionate and less violent than men- Disagree6. Sometimes you have to do things other people consider wrong to get ahead- Neither agree or disagree7. Some things are destined or fated to happen- Agree8. If something is destined to happen, it will happen without your interference- Disagree
The two statements I am going to talk about are numbers four and seven. Number four states that "Who we are--our essential character and temperament-- is fixed and unchangeable." I strongly disagree with that statement. I believe that anyone can change who they are, but they have to do it themselves. No one can change another person without that person wanting to change. If someone wants to change, then they can. No one can force change on anyone else, but if I were that person, I would love support. Who we are today is not permanent we can change, it is just up to us.
Statement number seven says, "Some things are destined or fated to happen." I agree with that statement with a few reservations. I believe that something is destined to happen by our everyday actions and character. I believe that a person is eventually going to get what is coming to them, positively and/or negatively. Think about it, if someone is constantly doing whatever your image or wrong is, don't you think that something bad is going to happen to them? Or vice versa, if someone is always being positive they will probably be in a good place for the long run, right? But, everyone is destined to have good and bad in their lives, one just had to decide which side to act on.
