These Shallow Graves

I have recently started to read These Shallow Graves by Jennifer Donnelly. It was recommended to me by my old english teacher who likes to read the same genres I do. This book is a mystery and has a female protagonist named Jo Montfort. Her dad was murdered but she doesn't know why and her uncle covered it up. In this point in time women were only good for marriage and kids, at least that's what the majority of society thinks, not Jo.

This book lives up to my love of mysteries. I have always loved mysteries and I always will. The author allows us to really understand Jo's thought process and how the society she lives in works. I am only on page 87 but Jo's story is just about to take off. I'm ready to see how Jo figures out what happened to her father without destroying her family's reputation and her's in the process. Jo has a long journey ahead of her and she's going to have to toughen up to survive.
